In 2004, I was just getting started in my journey as a photographer, learning my craft, creating portraits of whomever would let me. When someone emailed me asking to photograph her wedding, I was completely honest about my lack of experience, and insisted on doing it for free. From the moment I captured the first photo at that wedding, I was hooked! Two decades later, I've been invited to photograph nearly 400 weddings all over the country (and even a couple outside the US). And I still get a thrill upon rolling up to a new wedding. It's such a privelege to be one of the inner circle at every wedding and get an all-access backstage pass to all of the wonderful range of emotions and experiences throughout the day. And while I have a pretty good idea of how most wedding days flow, I never know what unique and wonderful situations I am going to get to capture at THIS one!
Experience - With hundreds of weddings under my belt, I've been forced to create amazing photographs in the most demanding of conditions. I've photographed weddings in hurricanes and blizzards, indoors, outdoors, and everywhere in between, on the brightest afternoons and the darkest nights, on boats and islands and beaches and mountains and farms and backyards of all stripes, from the local KOC hall to the local parish to a historic cathedral to the Four Seasons...chances are, I'm not going to be surprised by any situation I encounter on your wedding day...and I'm definitely not going to be unprepared! You'll receive beautiful images no matter where you choose to celebrate!
Efficiency - My #1 goal as a wedding photographer is to reduce the pain points that are often associated with wedding photography. I work closely with you before the wedding to identify your "must have" photographs, so you don't have to think about them on the day itself. And when it comes to the dreaded family photo time, I employ strategies to make the process as quick and efficient as possible, so that no one is standing around for an hour waiting for their turn to be in a photo. My goal is to get everyone to the party as quickly as possible, and get on with celebrating your day!
Equipment - While the person behind the camera is the most important part of the photography equation, the gear they choose to use is important as well. I have put together a kit of the very best and latest in high resolution professional cameras, with the highest quality lenses and lighting equipment. I have backups for everything on my person all day, and a kit of redundant backup gear in my car. Through years of experience and amazing advances in technology I have been able to pare down my gear to a size that allows me to have constant access to it, while still being able to make a sprint for the unexpected cake cutting! As new gear is released, I constantly evaluate and upgrade if I feel that new gear will get better images for my clients.
Enthusiasm - I genuinely enjoy photographing weddings. I love experiencing the best day of preople's lives together and have a great time creating the best images of them together. Nothing makes me more excited at a wedding than looking at a photo I captured, and knowing that the couple is gonna fall in love with it. And it's a treasure hunt every wedding looking for those gems. I'm actually excited to be there, and you'll know it by the smile on my face and the enthusiasm with which I work.
Expertness - Expertness...expertness? Thesaurus.com said it meant the same thing as "professionalism" and I wanted to have 5 E's. Not sure it works here, though, so let's go with professionalism. I take my career seriously. I always show up on time, showered and well groomed, and I'm always dressed appropriately for the job. And every time you look for me throughout the day, you'll see me taking photos, not scrolling on my phone.
